Abstract Ornaments

I don't know if you noticed, but I love to let my kiddo just go wild with paint sometimes. I like to test his skills to see how creative he can be......I love how little ones have such imaginations and how they convey their ideas to others. This week, we decorated glass ornaments. I picked up some plain frosted glass ornaments from Hobby Lobby as well as ceramic paint, opened em' up and let him go wild. when he was done, they weren't as shiny as I wanted them to be, so I went to the craft closet and found some glitter paint and smathered (did I just make that word up?) over the top of his creation. I LOVE how they turned out. By the way, if you hit the sales there, you can do these things pretty inexpensively....we did 12 ornaments for less than $5.

I love this idea. I am going to go to Walmart to see if they have similar balls. Since I don't have a Hobby Lobby. I am going to have him put the paint in the ball then shake it around to see what happends. That way too the ball will still be shiny. I think this may work. I love the twig snowflake ornaments. What does your tree look like? I am sure it is beautiful.

Lee Ann that's an awesome idea!!!! I didn't even think about putting the paint inside the ball!. My tree is a hodgepodge and came from the mountain, so it's really not perfect, but I kinda like it!

You know, I bought paint and paint brushes yesterday but I can't find clear balls anywhere! I don't want to pay a fortune for colored balls if we're going to paint over them.

I was able to find some clear balls at Walmart. They aren't exactly what I wanted but they worked great. Joshua enjoyed it. I had to water down the paint some so it would move around in the ball. Then we poured glitter in the ball and shook it around. They turned out cute and I'll post pictures as soon as I am able to.

Lisa~ Go to a dollar store or something similar, I bet they have really cheap ornaments if you can't find the clear ones....Lee Ann (Above post) found them at Walmart.
