Fetish

I have a little fetish. Besides the clothes. Besides the shoes...... Scarves. Can't get enough. I'm completely addicted. There isn't a group to join to get over it, otherwise I would attend weekly meetings. So.... I decided to make a few. As gifts. One for me, one for the recipient. One for me.......

I love colorful ones. It kind of makes me forget the reason that I have to wear them, to keep from being frost bitten this time of year.

And since I'm really bad at actually following a crochet pattern, much like reading music (I spent a whole year playing bass guitar without actually knowing how to read the bass clef), or coloring in the lines, I made my own up. I'm a master improviser. And like the scarves themselves, I get addicted to crocheting. There probably needs to be a group for that as well.

So, if you're kind of a crocheter like me... try it. They don't take long.

Pattern:
Make a chain that is an even number of lengths long.

Row 1: skip one, dc and then sc on top of that. repeat in every other chain. When you get to the end sc twice and then turn.

Row 2: dc in third chain and then sc on top of that. repeat in every other stitch. until the end. sc twice. turn.

Repeat row 2 until you have the desired length.

I love the crochet and love scarves too. I am in the middle of knitting one but it is taking me forever. I think I might crochet the next one I do. Yours turned out very cute. :)

I had to laugh a little while reading your pattern because I do not crochet at all and it was like reading Greek!!

Dang Stacey, you must be chaneling Martha Stewart! I love how creative you are and that you share everything. :-) (You are a dynamite photog to boot!!)

What size of a hook did you use for that fluffy yarn?

Lee Ann~ my goal for this coming year is to learn how to knit. I think it's so much more classy than crocheting, but two needles instead of one kind of scares me!!!!

Jenny~ I know...that's how I feel about most patterns. Most of the time I learn one pattern from my mom so I can just watch her and then I repeat it over and over, or change it to what I like.

Thanks Marianne....I guess I'm a firm believer that "what good is it if you can't share"... this has become a great outlet for those kinds of things!

I absolutely love the colors in the scarf. Really pretty yarn, nice choice.

I just want you to adopt me. Can you do that? Or maybe you could make up some more in your free time and sell them? I'd TOTALLY buy scarves from you, and lot's of them. This might come as a big surprise, but along with the boots and hats and coats I have a scarf thing, too. And I've decided mine aren't long enough to thread one end through the loop.

I bought yarn and was going to crochet my own, but it's been so long since I made one I don't remember how to do it! Plus my carpal tunnel is really bothering me lately. And we don't have cool yarn like yours, either. *Sigh* I sound so pathetic, don't I?

Lisa~ you do sound just the tiniest bit pathetic. I can't believe you don't have a hobby lobby in NY. Seems a little crazy!!!! I make mine ultra long when I make them myself..
